Willy Telavi – Prime Minister of Tuvalu
There’s no question that heads of state are powerful individuals, but that power is in direct proportion to the size and influence of the state of which you are head. I say “you” but I don’t suppose many actual heads of state are reading this yet. They doubtless will when the collection’s complete; how could they more effectively memorise their contemporaries than with a quick dip into World Leaders in Their Underpants?
Today’s specimen is Willy Telavi, Prime Minster of the world’s fourth smallest country, Tuvalu. He wields little more power than the area manager of my local Co-Operative Supermarket, but he’s the leader of one of the world’s 200 or so sovereign states and that’s good enough for him to join his fellow world leaders here.
