World Leaders in Their Underpants #91

Stephen Harper - Prime Minister of CanadaStephen Harper – Prime Minister of Canada

The name Canada is derived from a native American tongue, and means village. This diminutive human settlement also happens to be the world’s second largest nation, although the majority of the population live within spitting distance of the United States to the south, assuming a 200km spit and a suitable lack of decorum. Fortunately for their American neighbours, Canadians are little inclined to spit across their lengthy border, and it is more likely that they are thus huddled for warmth. Emissions from the United States help Canadians through the long winters.

It is unknown how far Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper can spit, but here he is in his underpants. Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II is Canada’s official head of state, but despite her well-regarded phlegm, she is little inclined to dabble in Canadian affairs such as Quebecois sovereignty or expectorating vile matter.

Stephen Harper is serving his third term since coming to power since 2006. A number of snap elections, accusations of contempt of parliament and votes of no confidence have not prevented him from squeezing the narrow majority required to fill the boots, and indeed the underpants, of Canadian office. He now joins his fellow heads of state here where we hope he will refrain from spitting.
