World Leaders in Their Underpants #22

Roza Otunbayeva

Roza Otunbayeva – President of Kyrgyzstan

The scarcity of female heads of state means they’re often known throughout the world. However, today we head to a country with no less than 8 consonants before its first and only vowel, for we must take our female leaders where we find them, and in this instance her presidency may be short-lived.

Like Egypt’s Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, Roza Otunbayeva, President of Kyrgyzstan, is an interim leader, holding the fort following the revolution that ousted her predecessor, Kurmanbek Bakiyev. As such, Kyrgyzstan may be the first entry in the World Leaders in Their Underpants cannon to need updating (assuming Gaddafi isn’t toppled first). The thankless* task I have set myself is likely to be without end, as new leaders assume power as fast as I can render them in states of undress. I remain firmly of the opinion that the ousting of world leaders is as important as sporting clean undergarments, so you will hear no complaints from me on this account.

Other leaders await usurpation here.

*Seriously, though. I’ve not had one word of thanks.
