Mahamadou Issoufou – President of Niger
The West African Republic of Niger is 80% sand, and land-locked by seven neighbouring nations. It is over this arid state that Mahamadou Issoufou presides. His predecessor was Lieutenant Colonel Mamadou Tandja, who had to be forcibly removed from office after he started tinkering with the rules of government in order to prolong his rule. If not for a coup d’état in February 2010, it may well have been Tandja’s underpants you’d be enjoying now.
We can only hope that Issoufou is more understanding of the first rule of World Leaders in Their Underpants. Change them often.
He joins his contemporaries here.
