Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu – King of Malaysia
Malaysia is one of the world’s few elective monarchies. They have a king, known locally as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, but unlike backward western monarchies, the King is elected and serves only five years. Here he is, in his underpants.
The role is largely ceremonial, so you could have been enjoying their Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak, but the thing with ceremonial roles is that they tend to have better hats. Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu currently gets to wear the fancy headwear and parade around unchallenged with a sword. Enjoy it while it lasts, there’ll be a new supreme ruler along soon.
