Videomaker Steve Jensen of TomandSteve had the pleasure of trying to capture me at work as I drew my 368th firk, a task I’ll admit I did nothing to make easy. I’ve never much enjoyed making a performance of my work, and Steve’s attempts to poke his blasted camera in my face met with considerable abuse. Fortunately, we get on well, and he was only slightly wounded by my remarks. The kind words he wrote about the film on the TomandSteve blog suggest there are no hard feelings…
There is a rumoured alternative edit knocking about in which Steve revealed how I really behaved on the day, but let’s just say it’s a little bit sweary. You can enjoy the version above in the company of children.
The music is Gus Cannon and his Jug Stompers. The “I Pretend to Work” card on my shelf is on the reverse of a Soma Gallery business card and is from a screen print by Andy Smith.
