George Papandreou – Prime Minister of Greece
If there’s a state you really wouldn’t want to be the head of right now, it could well be Greece, which is odd given that it is the font of Western Civilization and the Mother of Democracy. But latter day Greece is better known as the Cradle of Economic Wobbliness and the Momma of All Austerity Measures. Things look pretty grim for George Papandreou, seen here in his underpants.
Despite his democratic credentials, Papandreou belongs to a dynasty of rulers that saw his father and grandfather voted into office before him. This goes to show that even with a long history of popular sovereignty, if you give people a choice, they’ll still try and elect a nice comforting monarchy.
