Dilma Rousseff – President of Brazil
Atop the world’s 5th largest country, emerging economic colossus Brazil, sits former Marxist guerilla, Dilma Rousseff. Nowadays she styles herself as a “pragmatic capitalist”, but the young Dilma knew how to have fun, participating in bank heists, car theft and the occasional bombing. In 1970 her efforts to resist Brazil’s military dictatorship landed her in jail where she was allegedly tortured.
The thumbscrews did nothing to prevent her assuming the presidency some forty years later, and nor did they hinder her guitar strumming. The guitar here pictured was a gift from honest-hipped Columbian song trafficker, Shakira, who’s certainly more accustomed to underwear parades. But today it’s Dilma’s turn to flaunt her bits, and I’m sure you’ll agree there’s still a bit of the saucy urban terrorist in evidence. It might be the feathers.
