Dalia Grybauskait? – President of Lithuania
Dalia Grybauskait? is the president of the republic of Lithuania. If I had a pound for every female world leader who is referred to as the “iron lady” I wouldn’t be very rich, but I would have almost as many pounds as there are female heads of state. Either people aren’t terribly imaginative when it comes to dreaming up nicknames for world leaders, or the sort of women who aspire to senior statesmanship are just extremely ferrous.
As an aside, I’m forced to point out a sartorial discrepancy that has been noted in previous World Leaders, and Dalia Grybauskait? is no exception. That is that bra straps emerge from the outer side of the cup and not the middle, as appears to be the case with Angela Merkel, Atifete Jahjaga, and Roza Otunbayeva. Is this a misrepresentation on the part of the artist, or a trait of iron ladies? World Leaders in Their Underparts will surely give us the definitive answer.
