Angela Merkel – Chancellor of Germany
German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, is the first ever World Leaders in Their Underpants request. She is also the first female world leader in underpants. There are fewer than twenty female heads of state currently in office, unless you count monarchs and Governors-General, in which case, there are only slightly more. However, from the handful of requests so far received, it’s the ladies you want to see in states of undress.
I quite understand this trend. I occasionally attend life-drawing classes, and it’s always a disappointment when your weekly nude is a gentleman, with their unappealing lumps and inappropriate knobbly bits.
But remember, World Leaders in Their Underpants is a serious study of the relationship between power and vulnerability, not an opportunity to snigger at heads of state parading about with their nipples out. I won’t have it.
